Pirates News · Canady Signs to Play at Next Level

Madison Canady was surrounded by family, coaches, friends, and teammates today as she signed to represent Division I Radford University on the softball field.

As a junior, she was named the Female Athlete of the Year by the Best of 910Preps. 910Preps honors high school athletes in the Sandhills and Southeastern Region.

Madison has excelled as a Pirate, playing varsity sports from day one of her high school career. Softball awards last year included: being named to the 1st team all-state, all-district, all-region, all-conference, county player of the year, and she received the most valuable offensive player award. She has been named county player of the year three consecutive years which means she was county player of the year as a freshman, sophomore and junior.

Madison’s basketball accomplishments include all-county selection, all-conference selection, received an award in February, 2018 for scoring her 1000th point, being named to the Robeson County Shootout All-Tournament Team, and she was recognized January, 2019 for her 1000th rebound.

She is an NC Scholar, which means she also puts in the work in the classroom. Canady is also a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and NASA.
