Matt Ferrell is a familiar face for returning student-athletes and their parents. Matt speaks about injuries, and protocol for handling injuries, during parent meetings at the beginning of the season. He is on the sidelines at home games, and him and student athletic trainers are quick to respond when an athlete is injured.
Southeastern Health provides athletic trainers to the Public Schools of Robeson County’s high schools. They are trained to oversee the “Acute Care of Injury and Illness, Injury Prevention, Assessment and Evaluation, Rehabilitation of Injuries, Nutritional Aspects, and Health Care Administration.” (Click here to read more from Southeastern Health)
Matt is the lead athletic trainer and has been a member of the Southeastern Health sports medicine team since 2011. He has over 20 years experience in sports medicine at the high school and college level. The Pirates welcome him back this year.
When you see Matt and the student athletic trainers throughout the year, please thank them. They do an awesome job taking care of our student-athletes.
*Interesting fact: Matt did internships with Disney Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., and with the Green Bay Packers.
