2016 Pirate graduate Tyron Alford completed her junior year in May at North Carolina A&T State University and is now settled in for her senior year. Alford is not one to waste time or pass on opportunities. While many were sleeping in late this summer, she was taking advantage of summer educational experiences.
Alford spent 8 educational days (May 15-22) in Amsterdam and Paris through a program sponsored by North Carolina A&T State University and EF College Study Tours. The trip included a full-time tour director with tours of Louvre, Anne Frank House, Notre-Dame and more.
After her trip to Amsterdam and Paris, she was off again for another adventure in June. She was accepted to the Design Discovery Program at Harvard University and spent six weeks there studying what she loves. The Design Discovery Program provides opportunity for students to experience first-hand design studio work through projects in line with work seen by first year graduate students. In addition to design studio work, she attended lectures, workshops, and went on field trips. Field trips through the program include visiting professional firms and landmarks.
Visiting Amsterdam and Paris and graduating from the Harvard program were a perfect fit for Alford, who is a Landscape Architecture major.
While attending Lumberton Senior High School, Alford was a scholar athlete. She was active in the community and in her church, and was a member of several clubs all while maintaining good grades and playing volleyball and running track. We are so proud of her!
