Girls Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Volleyball · Anna…More than Just an Athlete Series (Part 1)

Fans see athletes as a basketball player, track star, volleyball player, softball player (etc.), but athletes are so much more than what you see on the field or court. Anna Mercer, Class of 2021, is a perfect example of this. This young lady does not sit still long.

Many of you have watched Anna on the volleyball court and softball field, but did you know that she has a strong interest in farming? Much of Anna’s time is spent being involved with FFA and helping her dad on the farm. She is the 2020 – 2021 Lumberton Senior High School FFA President, Vice President of the South Central District’s FFA, and was selected as a NC FFA National Delegate. Anna is on the right in the photo below.

If you visited the Farmer’s Market this summer, you probably saw Anna there with her dad selling corn.

Anna spent much of her summer working at Agri Supply, which goes hand in hand with her interest in farming and all the hard work she puts in through FFA and farming with her parents.

Working at Agri Supply was not Anna’s only job. She works at Sweet Frog, helped take care of a lady’s horses, and helped her uncle plant his garden.

Yes, Anna still puts in the work in the classroom! She is a member of the National Honor Society and was a Junior Marshal. Juggling all of these things takes planning and time management skills. Way to go Anna! We hope you have a fantastic senior year!
