Two Pirates Finish 2nd at States

6 Pirates qualified to compete in the NCHSAA individual wrestling state championships in Greensboro. The Pirates traveled to Greensboro on Thursday for three days of very competitive 4A wrestling. Two Pirates finished 2nd in their weight class. They stood proudly on the podium representing Lumberton High School accepting their metal. Yakemiean Johnson (132 lb class)

Pirates have Finalists at State Championships

The Pirates have two finalists at the individual state championships today in Greensboro. Yakemeian Johnson (132) and Tray Regan (HWT). Regan won yesterday in a tiebreaker and Johnson by pin. Wrestling Results of 1st Round of 4A NCHSAA State Championships

The Pirates had 6 wrestlers who qualified for the individual state championships. They traveled to Greensboro yesterday for the 1st round. Five Pirates won their 1st round match: Justin Kelly, Yakemiean Johnson, Ed Brock, Alex Hammonds and Tray Regan. All 6 will wrestle again. 2nd round starts today at 9:00 am. Good luck Pirates! Tray Regan was honored last night between the boys’ and girls’ basketball games for his excellent record as a Pirate wrestler. He is currently the record holder for most season wins (55), most career wins (132), most season pins (38), and most career pins (80). He was presented with a plaque. Congratulations on your success

Pirate wrestling took 14 wrestlers to regionals this weekend at Cardinal Gibbon’s Catholic School in Raleigh. State Dual Results from 1/29/19

The Pirates had a close loss to Laney (37-33) in the first round. South View defeated Green Hope 44-24 in the first round but fell to Laney in the 2nd round (43-33). Laney will take on Jack Britt in the 3rd round. The Pirates will be preparing for 4A East Regional individual championships next weeekend.

Pirate Wrestling to Host 1st and 2nd Round State Duals

Lumberton wrestling will be a host school for the first & second round of the 4A NCHSAA State Duals. Lumberton (Number 2 seed) will face Laney and South View will face Green Hope in the first round.
